Bring your preschool to elementary school aged child to the park for a night hike that will have them using their different senses to explore the woods and learn about nocturnal creatures.  Kids must be accompanied by an adult.  Please wear dry sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.  Pre-registration requested.   


REGISTRATION CLOSED - Join park district naturalist/artist Kay Hisong and enjoy guided nature sketching inside the warmth of the cabin with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee by the fire. Experiment with different art mediums as we do a series of short sketches. Beginners and advanced artists welcome.  Bring your own sketching tool.  For adults. Class size limited.  Class fee $7/person with sketch pad provided (this registration link) or $2/person if you provide your own sketch pad.  Payment due at time of registration. Preregistration required.

It’s that time of year again for the Great Backyard Bird Count!  Join a park district naturalist for a winter walk in the woods to identify and count birds as part of the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC).  This program is for both amateur and experienced birders.  The data collected during these walks is shared with the GBBC to help scientists determine: how the weather and climate change influences bird populations, how the timing of migration changes over time and more.
