Food Chain Program Overview

Naturalist with a HawkThis is a series of three sessions offered individually.  Each session will introduce different animal species, how they interact with their environments and what special traits they have for survival.  Focusing on these adaptations, we will find where to place these animals within a food chain.

Session 1: Producing the Start of the Chain

DESCRIPTION:  During this 20 minute online adventure, your naturalists will lead the session from one of our many Miami County Parks!  This session will focus on the Sun and the Producers of the food chain.  Without these integral links, our whole ecosystem falls apart.  We will discuss the adaptations that plants have to survive in different habitats. DESCRIPTION:  During this  20 minute online adventure, your naturalists will lead the session from one of our many Miami County Parks! There are many animals that are not at the top, they have survived by dealing with predators in many ways. But not all plant eaters are small insects. Come with us to explore the variety of links in this food chain and what makes them special. It feels good to be at the top, but it is a lot of hard work too. Together we will explore into the world of a predator, first and second level consumers all have special adaptations to help them out and we want to know what they are.
