Folks might like to stroll on the boardwalk at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary (when it is not wet!) to see the huge, fallen trees from the September hurricane-force winds.  You can count the rings on many oaks, maple, ash, beech trees that were 100-150 years old.  There's an uprooted tree with a 10 foot wide section of soil attached.  It's pretty spectacular, in its own way.

We wonder how the loss of so many "giants" will affect the wildflowers and tree growth in the future.
