The 2011 Hug the Earth Family Festival was held on Saturday, May 21.
In weeks prior to the Festival, school children were visited in their classroom by the Miami County Park District teaching staff to make costumes and learn their chosen song. They learned about water through demonstration with the Enviroscape, ground water flow model and the Stream Table, plus a watershed model the park staff made and a colorful mural drawn and painted by Administrative Naturalist, Susan Condy. They have a hands-on trip to one of the Park District parks to actually get their hands, feet etc. in the water. Some students were able to spend a day as a water droplet and follow its trip through the water cycle; condensation, precipitation and evaporation.
I hope you didn't miss out on this years Hug the Earth Family Festival but if you did, we hope to see you next year! For pictures of this years festival, visit our facebook page. Miami-County Park-District
