Ramble Quest  2011 - Seasonal Hikes

Greenville Falls State Scenic River Area and Lost Creek Reserve

Ramble Quest 2011  is a seasonal challenge. We have placed 2 rubbings somewhere in each of these two parks at one of the starred rubbing stations from the 2010 locations. Your challenge is to get to each of these two parks in each of the four seasons. Our winter rubbing plate for 2011will be a snowflake. These winter snowflakes plates will remain up until April when the spring plates (flowers) will be put up at a starred location on the ramble quest map.  The spring plates will remain up until July when the summer (insect) plates will replace them. In October we will take down the summer plates and replace them with (seeds) for the autumn. Once you have collected all 4 seasons at both Greenville Falls and Lost Creek Reserve call our office at 937-667-1286  to arrange a time to come in and claim your  prize.

This year as an added challenge we will place our “follow me butterfly” in one of our parks somewhere starting in January.  The first person to call our office and bring  this rubbing  in will win a flip flying Frisbee. The butterfly will then be moved to another location somewhere in one of our parks you never know where or when you might find it.

The first butterfly has been found! Found on January 3 by Robert McDaniel and will be relocated on January 4. Happy Hunting!

2010 Ramble Quest – A journey with a mission

It is not too late to earn your medallion for 2010. The rubbing stations will remain up throughout 2011 or until all prizes  are claimed. Earn a unique hiking stick medallion. Come take a stroll on our trails through the rustling forest and prairie. If you feel adventurous, walk along the lazy river or past a rushing waterfall. What a great way to experience the various habitats right here in our Miami County Parks. Your challenge is to walk all 25 miles in our 12 Miami County Parks and earn a hiking stick medallion.

Ramble Quest symbol – the rock cairn.

cairn

A cairn is a man-made pile of rocks used as a trail marker. Cairn is pronounced like the word care + n. Have fun looking for the cairn rubbing plates, you will find one in each park along your journey!

We hope to see you in the parks soon!
